Condensation Nucleus CounterCNC

(c) CERTAMC ounting is achieved trough scattered-light measurement. The condensation nucleus method consists in driving particles into a gaseous butanol-saturated heated zone at the entrance of the counter. Downstream this zone, a brutal drop in temperature makes alcohol condensate around each particulate matter. Particles play the role of condensation nucleus, this means germs for the growth of optically detectable droplets.

Unlike classical optical counting technics, CNC principle allows to detect ultra-fine particles which are generally the most in number.
