Internal friction Studies

Knowledge of power losses caused by engine internal friction is a key factor in the development of new technologies.

To this aim, CERTAM is equipped with friction sensor devices allowing to measure friction the closest possible to reality:

  • Instant Pressure measurement in combustion chamber to compute engine work:

    * Kistler or AVL Piezo-electric pressure sensor conditionned in temperature and pressure
  • Instant or average effective engine torque measurement to compute effective work: inline torque-meter HBM or load machine with HBM or AVL constraint gauge
